Chief Technology Officer

The Organisation 
The client is a pioneering clean-technology company.  The company currently employs around 40 people in six countries and is now looking to significantly scale its operations through mass manufacture.  To facilitate this process, the company is seeking to appoint a new CTO who will combine the visionary qualities needed to keep it at the forefront of clean/ disruptive-technology thinking and product development with the experience and capability to scale production and operations.

Role and Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the process of building, managing, and validating the Technology Roadmap for the Company’s Products
  • Support the CEO in developing the strategic vision for the business and its products to ensure its market leader status
  • Be responsible for bringing technical or hardware products to market
  • Design and build a scalable product based on robust but agile technology, organization and process
  • Support the executive team in product innovation through research and continuous improvement
  • Contribute to strategy development through participation in an inter-disciplinary executive team
  • Build a strong and empowered technical team

Person Specification

  • Strong Mechanical and Electronics Engineering and Product Development background
  • A leading technology specialist with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in strategy, development and operations
  • A technology specialist in Sustainability, Big Data and Internet of Things
  • A demonstrable track record of turning strategic technology ideas into commercially successful and scalable products
  • An established reputation as a technology thought leader and innovator who is at home in an agile and dynamic environment
  • An ability to relate technological innovation to market needs and commercial success
  • Open minded and collaborative in the visioning and development process
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to develop and maintain strong and effective relationships with key stakeholders
  • Adept at building strong, effective and empowered teams
  • Have the ability, over time, to build a progressive learning culture and establish a predictable/ working/effective model of envisioning, designing and developing products
  • Have a track record in growing technical leaders as a way of scaling the business
