Legal & General is a leading International FTSE 50 financial services organisation. It was undergoing a major change programme having identified the need to strengthen its senior group finance team. It needed to identify a talent pool of senior commercial qualified accountants – ranging from Financial Planning & Analysis Managers, Commercial Finance Business Partners and Project Accountants through to Financial Controllers and Divisional Finance Directors.
Rex Cridland was engaged to run a retained search campaign on behalf of Legal & General in order to identify, attract and select high quality senior finance staff for each of the various role profiles. Project briefs were agreed with the objective of offers being made within a 6 week timescale from commencement of the assignment. Assessment days were arranged over 2 separate days involving L&G’s internal recruitment team, key hiring managers alongside the recruitment partners.
20 candidates were selected from the talent pool to attend 2 x assessment days based at L&G’s head office in Kingswood. These days consisted of a variety of key tasks ranging from competency based interviews, individual and team presentations, and SHL assessments. Out of the 20 shortlisted candidates a total of 10 successful hires were made (permanent and interim).
The senior talent pool project was deemed very successful by L&G and was commended by senior management at L&G for being a highly cost effective and extremely time efficient process to hire high quality senior finance staff in a short timescale.
