The UK eCommerce space is thriving and so too investment into pureplay online retail. Consequently we are often involved with potential deals, helping our PE contacts to identify and attract individuals who can help portfolio companies achieve their growth objectives.
We are currently keen to discuss an opportunity for an exceptional Non-Executive Chair to work with a Founder-led fast growth young pureplay own brand ‘etailer’ with c.£10m turnover and intention to scale to exit in 3 years. The primary areas of product focus are currently centred around good quality well-priced gifting such as jewellery, watches and accessories with a predominantly female target audience and customer base (predominantly UK with some international business), acquired at present largely through social media marketing.
The successful Chair will bring a highly commercial background which combines exceptional brand and marketing acumen with current eCommerce know-how, coupled with value creation and exit experience. They’ll be comfortable engaging with Private Equity investors as well as knowing how best to support the Founder and SLT.
The successful Non-Executive Director will likely:
be an experienced PE portfolio Chair (nevertheless, we will not rule out an exceptional Executive seeking their first Chair role who can demonstrate very strong synergy of experience and offer suitable fit, EQ and appreciation of the nature of the role)
have international growth experience – preferably including the US market (although not essential)
have a track-record of advising SMEs with eCommerce offerings, not necessarily pureplay etail – traditional ‘bricks-and-mortar’ retail and/or omni-channel background is beneficial too
be well-versed in eCommerce brand and marketing principles used successfully within ‘fast-fashion’ etail where social media is prominent, for e.g. from the likes of ASOS, Boohoo, PrettyLittleThing, Gymshark etc.
