Interim Head of People & Culture

Our client is a fast-growing travel services company employing approximately 90 people at the head office in Central London and in 3 small overseas offices.

The Role
The Company is looking for an interim Head of People & Culture to provide sabbatical cover for the permanent incumbent.  The role will be based in Central London and will report to the Managing Director.

Duration: Full-time for 4 months (4th November to early March 2020)

Main Responsibilities of the Role:

Broad Responsibilities (Ongoing)

  • Coaching/managing the 4 person People & Culture team, comprising:
    • L&D Specialist
    • Employee Journey Advisor (in charge of recruitment),
    • Employee Experience Coordinator
    • Office Manager
  • Team management responsibilities include:
    • Helping to set team goals for Q4
    • Helping them to feel connected and aligned
    • Helping to advise/coach them through any obstacles
  • Advising managers & Senior Leadership Team team on People/HR related issues
  • Improving internal communications
  • Helping to develop clearly defined people policies and processes
  • Managing change/communications around company initiatives
  • Improving employee experience across the company

Projects (In Process/Upcoming in Q4)

  • Competency Framework – continuing to develop this for all roles across the company
  • Compensation and Bonus Scheme – putting simple criteria in place for pay and bonuses
  • Engagement Survey
  • Prepping/planning for B-Corp Certification together with MD (many of the above responsibilities will already be helping towards this)
  • Developing initial proposals for an Intern Scheme

The Person

The ideal candidate will be a well-qualified and high energy HR Director with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a people-related leadership role.
Candidates will need to be able to demonstrate:

  • 5 years’ experience in a senior HR role
  • Proven HR management and experience in a services business
  • Experience of successfully operating in high-growth companies
  • Experience in effective partnering with the MD and Board level representatives on managing HR issues such as compensation and benefits, senior recruitment, and employee relations and development
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Strong track record in culture change and development
  • Experience in establishing policies and procedures that protect the company and its employees whilst facilitating a rapidly growing team
  • All candidates should have:
  • A professional and / or related qualification in HR strategy, practice and implementation
  • High energy and motivation
