Group COO

Our client is an integrated media company, based in Ghana their subsidiaries include TV & Radio stations, Production and digital media companies. Due to continued growth they are looking for a Group COO who will have oversight over all of their subsidiaries.

Duties and Responsibilities 

The Group COO shall report to the Board Chairman and Group CEO of the Employer and the Board of the Company in the performance of the following duties:

  • Oversight responsibility for all Subsidiaries of the group including TV stations, Radio stations, production company and digital media
  • Advise the Board of the Companies and the Board Chairman of the Employer on corporate and operational policies and procedures.
  • Implement the decisions, policies and objectives of the Boards of Employer and the Company.
  • Provide leadership and direction for the achievement of the vision and strategic goals of the Employer and the Company by spearheading the development, communication and implementation of effective growth strategies and processes.
  • Coordinate the Company’s operations through departmental and unit heads to ensure the application of best practices with the objective of achieving optimum efficiency in all operational areas.
  • Motivate and lead a high performance management team.
  • Manage performance, make appointments, dismiss and discipline employees were necessary in consultation with the Employer represented by the Group CEO and/or Board of the Company.
  • Engage all stakeholders regularly to ensure the strengthening of the brand and the promotion of the Company’s interest while ensuring compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements.
  • Overall management of the Company as a profitable business entity through growth of its market share.
  • Make input into and assist in the finalisation of the Company’s 5-year strategic plan in view of the pending digital migration of the station and put in place monitoring systems to ensure effective implementation.
  • Any other relevant duties or responsibilities that may be assigned by the Employer from time to time

Candidate Profile

  • Experience of working in Africa for a similar broadcast media organisation.
  • Must have previous “Free to Air” broadcasting experience
  • Must have operated at COO/CEO level
  • Must be able to motivate and lead a high performance management team
  • Good stakeholder management skills.
