Graham Oates has doubled his investment in Norrie Johnston Recruitment. Graham now has a 20% share of the company and has taken over as CEO.
NJR’s founder, Norrie Johnston, has become Chairman. In his new role Graham will focus on developing Norrie Johnston Recruitment’s business with major blue-chip clients and expanding its capabilities in international markets. Graham has a strong track-record building companies. Formerly a senior partner at KPMG for 14 years and managing partner and member of the UK Board, he built the IT consulting business for KPMG UK to a £50m turnover operation employing 500 people. He was also Global Leader of KPMG’s Enabling Technologies practice, launched the firm’s internet operation, Metrius Europe, co-led a Joint Venture to grow the KPMG business in the Asia Pacific market and spearheaded joint ventures with Compaq, Microsoft and Cisco Systems.
The appointment of Graham as CEO is the clearest sign yet of the firm’s ambitious growth plans. Formed in 2013, by e-recruitment pioneer, Norrie Johnston, in its first year it signed deals with SalesMatch and set up a digital practice. Since then it has appointed a number of senior recruiters and who have already placed candidates in a wide range of countries including China, Russia, the USA, and across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
Graham Oates explains why he has deepened his connection with the firm:
“During my career I have worked with recruitment firms a lot and have found that the large players are often professional but too big to offer a tailored service. At the other end of the spectrum, the smaller boutique players may be flexible but they don’t have the bandwidth or protocols to service major clients on a global basis. At NJR we have developed a business model which provides high-end quality but within the context of a highly tailored and personal service. We have found that this model has great resonance with our clients and provides huge potential for further growth in the business.”
Oates has great plans for the business. He has already added a Talent Management Services offering and is also looking to hire a number of additional senior recruiters and consultants over the next twelve months.
